Problem and Context

DOP had a strong musical identity, but its visual presence did not yet fully communicate the energy, optimism, and character behind the brand. In a crowded electronic music landscape, the challenge was to create an identity that felt recognisable and ownable without relying on the visual clichés often associated with house and club culture.

The branding needed to capture the feeling of happy music for house heads, something energetic, inclusive, and expressive, while remaining flexible enough to support the label's evolution. It was my job to develop a visual identity that could turn DOP's philosophy into a recognisable brand: one that feels as good as the music sounds and builds a sense of community around the label.

Process

The project began with a refresh of the DOP logo. The goal was to modernise the identity while keeping the essence and recognisability of the existing brand. I introduced a more contemporary and expressive typeface, giving the logo a stronger presence and a visual language that felt better aligned with the energy of the music and the culture surrounding it.

Once the core identity was established, including the logo, colour palette, and a set of visual concepts that could be applied across campaigns and music releases, we moved into motion graphics. I created a series of reusable motion templates designed specifically for DOP's social media content and music visualisers.

The templates were built to be flexible and easy for the client to use, allowing them to simply add new music and publish content without needing to create a new visual from scratch each time. The colour systems were also designed for quick adjustments, meaning each template could be easily adapted to different releases while still feeling part of the same brand world.
